Interview by The Uninvited
How did you get "discovered" by Jess for The Uninvited films?
My good friend Johan Rosén (who is also a friend of Jess) told her about me and that I had filmed some clips the year Jess and the crew were producing and filming the first movie.
Why did you want to be a part of The Uninvited?
I was a big fan of Jess Kimura and snowboarding in general and this was so unreal to me, never did I ever imagine Jess Kimura reaching out to me asking if I wanted to be a part of a real snowboard video! I was already really interested in filming and skateboard/snowboard videos. I would watch videos over and over again… as I still do…
I had been filming a little bit with my friends and filming myself with gopro on selftimer and editing my own season edits and park videos for Vimeo and youtube at the time and had some clips in my friends videos prior to The Uninvited.
What opportunities came from your video part in The Uninvited?
Through the girls that filmed for the videos and everyone that supported Uninvited I gained a huge network of connections all over the world, people that were as passionate and excited about filming snowboarding as me.
I never really had that in my home turfs. For me I was dedicated to it, working several jobs all year to be able to film snowboarding for a few months a year putting all my heart and resources into being able to live it.
and so through this network I connected with people that were as down and ready for all the grinding and dedication without having any financial support, just for the love of it. Then I got my first contract sponsorship in snowboarding with Burton. I also got a lot of recognition from the magazines after my part in uninvited 2 to be invited and included in all kinds of events, gatherings etc. It was my gateway into the international snowboard scene.
Standout memory from filming for and with The Uninvited? Or any funny stories?
I think a funny one was from when I went to SLC for the first time and me and Alexa McCarty went out with her homies that make the Chuuch and Daylie Dose videos. It was us two and like 10 dudes that I had never met before (they always film with the big crew homie vibes) anyway I find this roof spot near Park city and they help me get up on the roof with standing on someone's shoulders to climb up a draining pipe of some sort, super sketchy climb, and someone throws my board and a shovel up to me… anyways… I get on top of the roof and see my idea is possible. So Alexa and another homie go on a mission to a hardware store to get a ladder so I can go up and down from the roof to be able to hit this spot… I start building on the roof and some of the boys start shoveling for a landing/ridout. After like 30minutes I realize that I have started my period and there is no way of climbing down from this roof without a ladder… I don't have my phone on the roof and Alexa isn't back for a while longer. At this time I don't dare to tell the guys what is happening. I hold out for a little longer until I can’t wait anymore so I speed up my building process and when it is poorly/ barely set up with enough speed and a lip I think I can trust. Where I am standing on the roof I cant see where the landing is or how much snow is down there but I ask if it’s looking good and they think so… scream down that I think it's good and that they can stop shoveling and move out of the way…
I walk up to my dropper and hit the spot with it half ready and no one filming or really aware of me hitting it and sprint across the street to the gas station on the other side to buy tampons and go to the bathroom. Haha when I came back they all looked quite confused from this rogue move… I didn't really tell them exactly what happened until days later when I had gotten to know them better.
Can you name a few major projects you have been a part of since?
We made a video called Hot Coco a few years ago. Me, Maria, Nora, Grace and Dave Walcher filmed/edited that one. Then I was a part of a video called Blooom directed and created by Niels Shack, Colt Morgan and Arthuro. Last year I had clips in Horsepower, Henna Ikola, Lolo Determino and Calle Hazelblads video and I also got to be a part of Heaven by Rene Rinnekangas, Anton Kiiski and Tatu Pekka
What's next for you, anything big plans?
I am filming for Two video projects at the moment: A Burton team video and another project that I am really excited about but I can't tell you about that yet.
Stand out Uninvited rider in your opinion
I think everyone that had a part in the videos is a stand out rider, but the parts that I have watched the most times are Maria's ender in the first video, Miyon's part in the second movie and Nora and Darrah’s part in the 3d video.
You were injured last season and so you were one of 5 judges for The Uninvited Invitational 2024, how hard was it judging 70+ riders?
Hard yes, but also so so fun because that meant that I fully focused and saw every trick that went down at the event ! And wow the riding was so fucking good!
Stand out moment from last year’s event?
Taylors handplant !!!!!
Dream trick, dream spot, dream sponsor, dream project, one or all of them.
Dream trick atm is a sw backside rodeo in powder. Dream spot is one that looks like it is from out of this world, full of colors and natural snowboarding, something that looks huge, beautiful, fun and like flowy you know… no fighting physics… Dream project is the one that I am manifesting that I will direct myself one day. Dream sponsor would be a car company!
